Like a moth to a flame

Like a moth to a flame, I come back to you again. Into your arms, taken in by your charms. Over riding the consequences, remembering the good times, and forgetting the bad. Hoping and wishing that maybe, just maybe, this time you’ve changed, ignoring my instincts that you’ll probably do this to me again.

Like a moth to a flame, you burn my heart over and over again. How insane must I be, to think that you ever care for me? And yet I try to forget, the crude and harsh full times, which, made me cry into my pillow, time after time.

You see, like a moth to a flame, I try to fight what I know isn’t right, with my indecisive thoughts, and my, contradicting actions. I know, I must take some drastic action.

But like a moth to a flame, I’m bounded to you once again, through no one else fault but my own, as I fear of being alone.

See, you’re like a drug, and I’m the addict, trying to kick this bad habit. I know I can go all the way, but, sometimes I relapse and cry out in pain.

And now I’m starting to see, that maybe, just maybe, we were never ever truly meant to be. However, like a moth to flame, ours souls combine, and reunite again. But this is the last time, that I’ll ever let you, do this to me again.

Like a moth to a flame, apart of me wants to leave, but, a part of me wants to stay. But which ever way I look at it, I know the right decision I have to make.

Like a moth to a flame, they’ll be no burning this time for me again. They’ll be no compromising, no rationalizing that maybe, just maybe, this time you’ve changed. You see, the foolish women that once was, will never stand for this again. I’ve come to my senses, and promise you that this is the end. The end of us, the end of we, the end of me running back to thee.

So like a moth to a flame, I’ve given up on trying to make something work, what it is not suppose be. Because in the end, the only one person being hurt, is the person being burnt.

Like a moth to a flame.

Poetic Justice

Poectic Justice is a film about lost, enlightenment, trails and tribulations and POETRY, by the outstanding Maya Angelou. This film is no doubt-ably my favorite film of all time, it has passion and inspiration which I feel the film maker, John Singleton has captured very well. You my know some of his previous films: Boyz N Hood, Rose Wood, Baby Boy, and Higher Learning to mention a few, each of all fantastic in their own unique way.
Janet Jackson
plays the lead as Justice, whom has lost loves ones throughout her life. This has made her collapse into to herself and withdrawn from the world. Her only solitude and backbone was
her boyfriend, whom later was murdered. Justice becomes more withdrawn, defensive, and cold towards life, as everyone she loves leaves her. Her only escape and focus from the real world is poetry. Poetry plays a major role in this film hence the title (Poetic Justice), although trapped within her own thoughts and cradled by the sadness, she puts pen to paper to ease the pain that she feels. Justice soon learns to love again, even though she finds it hard to let people in. she’s introduced to a man named Lucky, played by (2Pac Shakur). Very opposite mismatch they are, feelings soon develop to Justices surprise, and she soon finds a love connection.
This is a must see film, that will make you want to watch it again again. The poetry is amazing by Maya Angelou, (Phenomenal Women, Alone....) and it has some funny moments as well as sad. This film is not just for the poetry lovers, but for those of you who can really appreciate a film that
’s deep and real as life can be. Poetic Justice is original and unforgettable just like Boyz N Hood, so peeps go out and purchase it from HMV or Amazon etc...

"Cause nobody, but nobody, can make it out here alone"

Alicia Keys

I simply love Alicia Keys, her unique sound and soulful expression tells us that she was truly gifted to grace this earth, and share what god has given her with others. With a powerful voice and amazing song writing skills, Alicia Keys has gone on to sell millions of records world wide, and is still dazzling us with her poetic sound. I respect her as an artist, and as musician, as she keeps it real.

There’s is nothing fake about her, even her hips her real. Lol..... She is one of a few many music artists out there, that justifiable write from the depths of her heart. Ever song she sings (writes) you can feel the atmosphere of the lyrics, and connect with them on a level, as her talented piano skills hypnotize you. Although Alicia Keys is renowned for her brilliant song writing skills, and amazing piano skills, she is also equally known for her poetic poetry skills.

With her captivating thoughts that leap from her mind out of her mouth, this leaves her audience wanting more. Her stage presence and delivery has you on the edge of you seat, Goosebumps tingly throughout your body. Alicia Keys is truthfully a star!!

An inspirational women is who she is, set to make a difference in the world through her music as well as through her many charities, which help child in Africa. She’s inspired me, and I hope that many of you can relate. There are many talented individuals in our world today, but Alicia Keys is one of a kind.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I don’t feel like smiling today.

Written By Caroline Gbolade (aka) Miss SoulStress

I don’t feeling like smiling today, but I’m gonna smile and do it anyway. I’m gonna smile from ear to ear and let the whites of my teeth glimmer and show no fear. I’m gonna simile even though I know society and the world has mapped out my future for me. You see, as a young black individual, statistically, I’m doomed to fail, be on crack or end up in jail. Relying on the government, for beneficial support, splashed all over the news paper headlines, for gang crimes on the streets. Be the center of attention, when I ever I walk down a quite street, women hold their bags, and stair at their feet.

Gun crime and knife crime associated with we, when will we get a break and finally be free? When will the hate crime towards blacks subside, so we can all get on with our damn lives?

Do you understand what I mean; do you feel what I say? That really we have a lot to be afraid. See, the struggle is still there, and clear in the air, with racist on the increase, this defiantly aint fair.

The stop and searches, the routine check’s, the police are on our back’s, that make’s us never forget, were seen as problematic vermin, of the night who are only here on this earth, Don't you see that they want us outta sight.

You see, I don’t feel like smiling today, but I’m gonna smile and well I’m gonna do it anyway. I’m gonna smile knowing that there’s ignorant people, out there such as, BNP Nick Griffin, who’s wrapped up in his own vision, of a 95% white Britain, this aint a world that I fit in. Jokers, contradicts, stereotypes of our black life. Telling us that we need, and must conform, just to fit in with your so called “WHITE” right life. Conform to your ways, religion, speech and dress. When we blacks have been forced to conform, from birth, just to make it on this earth. You see ignorance is bliss, as people are afraid, afraid, of the unknown, and seek solitude as if it was bliss.

You see I don’t feel like smiling today, but I’m sure as hell gonna do it anyway. I’m gonna smile even though I’m seen as a minority, I’m considered as a treat that you can disrespect. I’m gonna smile even tough when we blacks achieve something in life; it’s always flipped around to make you look nice. To increase your self a steam, a touch or two, and Flemish your ego don’t be a fool.
We’ve made it through the Pitts of slavery, a harrowing way of life that we faced, and we’ll make it through a lot more I guarantee you this.

So I'm gonna smile, cause that’s all I can do, to help

me get through, the discrimination that we face daily. I’m gonna smile and separate the real from the non-real and focus on a better life, live for me and only me. I gonna smile for my children, so they can see that despite our tortured history, that we can smile and rise above it and show our foes that YES! This door is close.

So when you feel like you don’t want to smile, when times are hard and you can’t see a way past. Just plant a smile upon your face, and keep the faith, that everything will be OK. And just remember that,

I don’t feel like smiling today, but I’m gonna smile, and do it anyway.

I'm gonna smile.

Floetry

I love Floetry and I'm sure many of us out there do to. Floetry brought to the table, to the poetry scene as well as the music scene, their unique way of sound through the art of poetry. With their soulful, graceful, expressive personalities, Floetry captured something within poetry that made them globe around the world. Not having a poetic duo out there as themselves on the scene, Floetry made a dramatic impact to which other poets such as myself and others could relate to. Although they've gone their separate ways, the duo Floeyry will always have an inspirational affect on the way I write to the way I perform.

We Love You Floetry

My Black is Beautiful"

by keemiekeem

My Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
Powerful beyond the simple imagination.
Others look on, their mouths open in fascination,
Cause my Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
So beautiful is my Black that all the world springs from her seed.
In fact, if God ever married, she would be His queen.
The Europeans come and like what they'd seen.
Black beauty ruling over diamonds and things.

Even saw the people and the strength they possessed.

So much, they took us and yall know the rest.
But still inside, Black kings and queens reigned.

Forced to listen to ignorant things.
But if the lion is the king of the jungle,Why is my Black king wearing his mane?

Or just because I'm Black, I need to be tamed.
Stereotypically, yet hypocritically, society judges me so critically.
Saying, "He's only good if he's an athlete physically,
Cause his Black can never make it in the real world mentally."
But actually, the only challenge right here is inside of me.
So I pour out my heart and hope my Black hears my plea!!
Let's go show the people who ruled the w
orld for centuries!!
Pharoahs, kings, and queens over everything.
My Black is beautiful, strong, courageous.
That's why my Black is president over the nation.
They say the color happiness in today's world is green.
So it's time for us to shine and make Our Black seen.

I love this poem, it speaks the truth. MY BLACK, OUR BLACK, IS BEAUTIFUL!! We black people need to start loving ourselves more, and believing that we can achieve the dreams we desire in life, and not be held back by stereotypical types of people, whom like to categorizes us in groups. I LOVE MY BLACK, and you should to. The only way forward, is to never look back!!
